Alamo Community Information
The
unincorporated town of Alamo is the southern most community in Lincoln County,
consisting of
about 720 acres in size and a population of about 900.
Alamo is a full service community offering food, Lodging, shopping, automotive
and emergency services.
Alamo features the Pahranagat National Wildlife Refuge. With the abundant
water source, established in 1964, the PNW is over 5,000 acres of wetlands
and grasslands managed for the thousands of migratory birds and waterfowl that
fly through the area.
Alamo was settled in 1900 by people moving from Fredonia Arizona. Alamo is
one of the closest inhabited places to the government installation known as
area 51. Today Alamo attracts Visitors to its hot springs, Lakes, Wildlife
preserves, and people interested in Indian artifacts.
